The spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, Captain 3rd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, said that the defenders will finally destroy the Crimean bridge when the situation requires it. He said this in an interview with Ukrinform.
"Unlike the Russians, we do not suffer from symbolism. This helps a lot when fighting with limited resources. If they have a task to take something from somewhere on the birthday of the so-called president of the Russian Federation, we don't. So this makes our task a little easier. Therefore, this (Crimean) bridge will certainly be destroyed, but it will be destroyed when the situation demands it," Pletenchuk said.
According to him, the main purpose of the bridge is to provide logistical support for the occupation forces both in Crimea and on the left bank.
Pletenchuk emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will destroy the bridge "when it is necessary to cut off the logistical tails of Crimea and make it an island."
"That's why we should wait for the right moment," the navy spokesman said.
