There is a lull in the enemy's offensive on Avdiivka, which is the largest since 2014. There has been a noticeable decrease in shelling and assault actions by Russians, but we expect another escalation in the coming days, said Vitaliy Barabash, head of the Avdiivka city military administration, during a telethon.
"I can say for sure that this is the largest offensive that has ever taken place in Avdiivka during the entire period of this war, starting from 2014," he said.
According to Barabash, the situation in the community is now a bit calmer, with fewer shelling, rocket attacks and assault operations.
"Although it is not getting quieter at the positions. There are shelling and firefights around the clock. The situation remains very hot," he said.
Barabash noted that such a decrease in the intensity of enemy attacks indicates that the Russians have "run out of steam" and the Ukrainian Defense Forces have stabilized the situation in the direction.
"But this is not the end of the story. The enemy is regrouping. For three nights in a row, they have been pulling back all the equipment they can to the rear to repair it. Most likely, in the coming days we expect this aggravation in our direction," said Barabash.
