Ukraine is preparing legislative changes to combat mobilization evasion

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine plans to make adjustments to the mobilization process and the work of military medical commissions to prevent citizens from evading their duties to protect the country. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova during a telethon.

"We have prepared proposals for changes to the draft laws concerning the registration of persons liable for military service, who then become servicemen, so that people can undergo a Military Medical Commision and all procedures related to mobilization at their place of residence (not their place of registration). We are currently finalizing the conceptual issues so that we can amend the law of Ukraine and regulate the issue of military registration," said the official.

Natalia Kalmykova also emphasized that thousands of citizens are currently trying to avoid mobilization.

"The Military Medical Commision is the second part, the first part is the registration of persons liable for military service. Unfortunately, we see many situations where people try to avoid the need to defend their country. A lot of people, in the tens and hundreds of thousands, create conditions for themselves to avoid mobilization. We are also preparing amendments to regulations that will help resolve this issue," Kalmykova said.
