The focus on financial and military support for Ukraine, as well as assistance to Israel, is the main emphasis of the US administration. This was reported by US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in Bloomberg.
"Funding for Ukraine, both military and direct budgetary support, as well as resources for Israel, are absolutely top priorities for the Biden administration," Yellen said during a press conference in Marrakesh, Morocco.
She also emphasized that the Biden administration has clearly outlined its position to Congress.
"We believe there is substantial support from both parties. We're going to give members of Congress the opportunity to figure out how to fulfill the promises as soon as a spokesperson is appointed," she added.
US pledges of continued support for Ukraine have been called into question after Kevin McCarthy was ousted as Speaker of the House, giving Republican hardliners the opportunity to stop the next round of aid to Kyiv.
She also said she was receiving "some positive responses" to her call for other governments to follow the US lead and pledge more funds to the World Bank to increase its lending capacity.
