DNA tests have identified another victim of the missile attack on a cafe in the village of Hroza in Kharkiv region, bringing the death toll to 53 as of the morning of October 10. This was announced at a briefing by Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the Investigation Department, deputy head of the National Police in Kharkiv region.
"The mutilated bodies had to be collected in parts. We have examined 135 body remains and are still doing so. DNA mobile laboratories work around the clock, as do investigators. 51 people were considered dead on the first day. Only 28 people were identified during the inspection of the scene. So far, 53 people have been identified," Bolvinov said.
He added that, given the unidentified body parts and reports of missing persons, the final number of victims may increase.
According to him, a total of 288 DNA tests have already been conducted. Without the modern equipment that the Kharkiv regional police received last year from foreign partners, this number of examinations would have taken almost a year.
During the investigation, 22 reports of missing persons were received. Four reports were not confirmed, the people were found, 13 were identified among the dead, and five are still missing.
