The European Union announces further aid to the Palestinian people

The European Union has published clarifications on the aid programs for Palestinians that it has decided not to terminate. The relevant post was posted by the head of European Diplomacy, Josep Borrell, on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

"Suspension of payments, which punishes the entire Palestinian people, would harm EU interests in the region and would only give more confidence to terrorists," the message reads.

A press release from the European Commission says that the EC condemns Hamas attacks and is launching an urgent review of aid to the Palestinians. The EU wants to make sure that "no funding has indirectly enabled the terrorist organization to carry out attacks on Israel."

The Commission will also consider the need to adjust programs to support the Palestinian population and the Palestinian Authority "in light of the changed circumstances on the ground."
