Rheinmetall receives a large order from the German government to supply ammunition to Ukraine

The German arms company Rheinmetall has received a significant order from the German government for the supply of 155 mm artillery ammunition under an existing framework contract. Tens of thousands of L15 shells will be delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces. This was reported by the Rheinmetall press service.

In addition, the company is also to supply conventional 155 mm Assegai shells to the German army.

The value of this order is estimated to be in the low three-digit million euros, and delivery is scheduled for 2024.

In July, Rheinmetall already announced the signing of a new framework agreement for artillery ammunition with the Bundeswehr until 2029 and expanded the existing agreement (potentially worth about €1.2 billion).

"The contracts provide for the supply of several hundred thousand shells, explosives, and projectile charges," the company explained.

The release also notes that Russia's large-scale military aggression against Ukraine "has forced the armed forces of many countries to replenish their ammunition stocks," and Rheinmetall has already received several large orders for artillery ammunition.
