During the morning missile attack on Kharkiv, the air alert was announced after the explosions. The Russians could have used a type of weapon that Ukrainian air defense forces are not yet able to detect in a timely manner. This was stated by Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, during a telethon.
According to Ihnat, the enemy used missile weapons, but the exact type of missile is yet to be determined.
"We have to wait until they see the wreckage. Let's say for now that the missiles were on a ballistic trajectory. This may be the type of weapon that, unfortunately, cannot be detected in in time," he said.
Ihnat added that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine uses the data provided to the Ukrainian side by its partners, intelligence data - when there is such information, "a missile threat is definitely announced."
"That is, an air alert is a threat of the use of ballistic weapons. But I emphasize that sometimes the enemy manages to do it covertly. And then the alarm comes along with explosions. Nothing can be done about it," said Ihnat.
The speaker added that the situation is similar to rocket artillery strikes, as they also "fly in seconds."
