For the first time in Ukraine, a decision was made to pay a reward to a corruption whistleblower

For the first time in Ukraine, a court has ruled to pay a reward to a corruption whistleblower. He will receive more than UAH 10 million. This was reported by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption.

Today, the first instance of the High Anti-Corruption Court approved a plea agreement between the SAP prosecutor and the former first deputy head of the Kyiv tax service.

The court's decision included a reward for the whistleblower in the amount of UAH 13 million 299 thousand 950, which is the first positive decision.

The verdict may be appealed to the HACC Appeals Chamber within 30 days of its announcement.

"This is, without exaggeration, a historic event that fundamentally consolidates the formation of a culture of whistleblowing in Ukraine and encourages whistleblowers to report the facts of corruption that they have managed to record," the NACP said.

Thus, according to the law, the reward will be paid to the whistleblower at the expense of the state budget of Ukraine by the State Treasury under the procedure of indisputable write-off.
