The Rada is proposing that prisoners in prisons generate electricity by pedaling bicycles.
The bill was registered by People's Deputy from "Servant of the People" Serhii Hrivko.
He offered to allow prisoners to generate electricity using bicycle generating units in exchange for a reduction in their prison term.
"If they comply with the standards set by the Ministry of Justice within a month, their prison term will be reduced by 3 days, but not more than 10 months a year. That is, in a year, a prisoner can reduce the term of imprisonment by 30 days. This will directly affect the savings on their maintenance - up to about 8% (up to UAH 200 million)," said Hrivko.
