Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the Ukrainian government is working with the governments of Romania and Slovakia, which are now inclined to support the country in importing Ukrainian agricultural products despite the pressure. He said this during a press conference in Kyiv.
"We are working with the Romanian and Slovak governments. There is pressure on them, but as of today they have not made their decisions and are inclined to support us. This work is carried out on an hourly basis by our entire team: the President, myself, Olga Stefanishyna, ministers - we are all really working these days. We have been preparing for this, and now is the decisive moment," he said.
The Prime Minister also expressed hope that the coalition of five countries would not make individual decisions to restrict Ukrainian exports.
He thanked Poland for humanitarian and military transit and Romania for its willingness to expand Ukrainian transit to 4 million tons per month.
"We never intended to harm any farmer in the European Union, in Poland or in any other neighboring country. We have an Association Agreement in place, and we are fulfilling its provisions responsibly," explained Shmyhal.
Shmyhal noted that if the balance of agricultural markets of neighbors is disturbed due to uncontrolled exports, Ukraine is ready to negotiate and will resolve this issue.
