The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is proposing a new source of funding for national armaments. This was reported by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on his Telegram channel.
It is noted that the government proposes to direct the funds collected by the military tax on personal income to the production of drones, weapons and ammunition. The corresponding draft law on military tax has already been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
The Prime Minister reminded that during the full-scale invasion, local budget revenues from personal income tax increased eight times. In 2023, according to forecasts, revenues will amount to UAH 96 billion, while in 2021 it was about UAH 12 billion.
These additional funds will be used to purchase drones and increase the production of domestic weapons, which will help to support the country's security and defense forces. The balance of more than UAH 200 billion accumulated on the accounts of local budgets and budgetary institutions will remain at the disposal of local authorities. In case of a shortage of funds, the state will provide basic support and reverse subsidies.
According to the Prime Minister, this way, the resource of local budgets in 2024 will be UAH 75 billion more than it was in 2021 before the full-scale invasion.
