German MPs call for providing Ukraine with Taurus missiles and weapons

Members of the Bundestag have written a letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Defense Minister Boris Pistorius calling for the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. This was reported by Taggeschau.

Before the next meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense, scheduled for September 19, the MPs called for the need to provide Ukraine with further commitments in the defense struggle against Russia.

The letter emphasizes that Ukraine needs the Taurus cruise missile systems in the Bundeswehr's warehouses to weaken Russia's military logistics.

The Bundestag members, including Maria-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann (Free Democratic Party), Anton Hofreiter (Greens) and Andreas Schwarz (Social Democratic Party of Germany), also expressed confidence that the supplied weapons would be used exclusively on the territory of Ukraine.

In addition to the Taurus missiles, the MPs emphasized the importance of continuing to supply air defense systems, ammunition, medical equipment, and protected vehicles, including battle tanks and armored personnel carriers.

The MPs also emphasized the need to ensure the stability of Ukrainian soldiers, and in this regard, the German industry should be coordinated and improved.
