Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has denied reports that the Bundeswehr is unable to meet its commitments to NATO because of problems with its Leopard 2 main battle tanks.

 This is reported by ntv.

"There is no doubt that the mission can be accomplished," he said in Lithuania.

"We don't have any technical problems related to the Leopards," said the SPD politician.

"We had some maintenance and repair issues that will now be resolved."

With 8,000 soldiers, Germany is the core of NATO's advanced operational-tactical force of the Very High Readiness Level (VJTF)

German media previously reported that Tank Battalion 393 was to keep 30 of its 44 main battle tanks ready for NATO. In January, however, only 17 tanks were in service, and in February - 20.

As reported, almost two-thirds of German citizens are in favor of additional funding for the Bundeswehr, even if it means saving on other expenses or borrowing money.
