The United States will impose sanctions on Russia and North Korea in case of weapons supply

The United States will monitor the results of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and is ready to impose new sanctions if arms supply is agreed. This was stated by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller at a briefing.

"I will remind both countries that any transfer of weapons from North Korea to Russia would be a violation of several UN Security Council resolutions," the spokesman said.

He noted that America is ready "without a doubt" to apply new sanctions on both countries. Miller also noted that Vladimir Putin's absence at the G20 summit is evidence of his status as an international exile, and his pleas to North Korea for help are signs that US sanctions and export control measures are effective.
