State Department, Pentagon and White House oppose proposal to use Western weapons on Russian territory

The United States of America has not changed its position on the use of American weapons for strikes on Russian territory. This statement was made during a briefing by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

“In terms of our policy, I talked about it last week, and the Secretary of State talked about it. Our policy is that we do not encourage or provide opportunities for Ukraine to strike outside of its borders. But if you look at the broader context of our policy, we have made it clear that Ukraine has no greater support than from the United States,” he emphasized.

According to Miller, Washington continues to play a leading role in the work of the coalition of more than 50 countries that have united in support of Ukraine.

In addition, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh made a similar statement. She said that the US position that Ukraine should not use US weapons to strike targets in Russia has not changed.

“We have given them a lot of opportunities - artillery, air defense systems. Our position has not changed. We believe that Ukraine can be successful on the battlefield,” she said.

The White House followed the Pentagon and the State Department in opposing the proposal to use Western weapons on Russian territory.

White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said at a briefing that “the United States is aware of Zelensky's interest in using Western weapons against targets on the territory of Russia, but, as before, does not support it.”
