Poland is developing a plan to extend the ban on food imports from Ukraine after September 15. This was announced by the Minister of Economic Development and Technology of Poland Waldemar Buda on Polish Radio.
The minister noted that the European Commission is considering the possibility of canceling export restrictions on Ukrainian food, which apply to five countries but do not include transit.
"We will negotiate with the European Commission to the very end. But we cannot allow Ukrainian grain to enter Poland immediately after the harvest. Polish farmers are the priority. They are the ones who should sell Polish grain and get an acceptable price for it," the minister said.
In the absence of a decision from the European Commission to extend the export restriction, Poland is ready to adopt an independent resolution.
"I am authorized to issue a corresponding resolution and I will block imports to Poland. I will not hesitate to use this tool this week, on Friday or Saturday. A draft resolution is already being prepared. We will be guided by the principle of food security," the Minister said.
