Ukraine seeks to replace Russia in the nuclear fuel market and is considering imposing sanctions in this area, Energy Minister German Galushchenko said.
He emphasized that the loading of US nuclear fuel into the reactor of the Rivne nuclear power plant would be a step towards possible sanctions against Russia in the nuclear energy sector.
Galushchenko noted that previously only Russia produced such nuclear fuel, which made consumer countries dependent on it. This factor prevented a quick reaction to the events and the imposition of sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry.
"We are currently working with a number of European countries and have signed the relevant documents. We are working to replace Russia in the nuclear fuel market," the minister emphasized.
