Zelensky: There will be no happy ending to the war, we have lost many people

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has rejected the possibility of compromise with Vladimir Putin and emphasized that the war will not lead to a "happy ending." He said this in an interview with CNN.

In response to calls for peace talks and a compromise with Russia, Zelensky said that Russia is not ready to make concessions.

The President of Ukraine cited other countries that have suffered from Russian aggression, such as Georgia and Moldova, and emphasized that he had not seen any compromises from Putin in those cases.

Zelensky also mentioned the death of Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner PMC, who was killed two months after a coup attempt.

"When you want to compromise or have a dialog with someone, you cannot do it with a liar," the president said.

Zelensky also expressed confidence that Putin is seeking to capture the whole of Ukraine: "Putin - he wants to take over our entire country, destroy all our families, homes. He understands that Ukraine will never retreat, will never leave its land. We will never do that. That's why he (believes) has to kill us" will leave his land."

Commenting on Ukraine's counteroffensive, the president said: "We all want to succeed and have a happy ending. But this is not a movie with a happy ending, we will not have a happy ending, we have lost many people. There will be no happy ending. We have to admit it."
