Russia has expressed interest in holding trilateral naval exercises with the DPRK and China, and has already discussed this issue with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, South Korean House Speaker Yoo Sang-bom said, according to Yonhap news agency.
Information from South Korea's intelligence agency clarifies that the proposal to hold joint exercises was made by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during his personal meeting with the DPRK leader.
Yoo Sang-bom also emphasized that the increase in the number of military incidents coming from North Korea is a response to the South Korean and US military exercises known as Ulchi Freedom Shield.
