The Chairman of the European Committee for NATO Enlargement, Gunther Fehlinger, has called on the Armenian authorities to consider joining the North Atlantic Alliance.

"I urge Armenia to consider joining NATO," Fellinger wrote in his message to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.


He also added the hashtag "Protect Armenia" to his message and tagged the account of US President Joe Biden.

Earlier, Pashinyan admitted that Armenia's dependence on Russia for security was a mistake and that the country now needs to consider diversifying its security.


He pointed out that most of Armenia's security architecture was based on cooperation with Russia, particularly in the acquisition of weapons. However, now that Russia itself needs weapons, it is clear that it cannot fully meet Armenia's security needs.
