Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said during a telethon that Ukraine is considering the possibility of mobilizing men of limited fitness into the army.
"There is a term in our legal documents - fit or conditionally fit. It is necessary to give an interpretation of who is conditionally fit and where people who have such a prescription in their documents can be used," Danilov emphasized.
The NSDC instructed to clarify this document in order to avoid ambiguous interpretation of this norm. The results of the clarification are expected to be presented today.
This statement by Oleksiy Danilov is related to the meeting of the National Security and Defense Council, where it was decided to consider the issue of the category of "limited fitness" for persons liable for military service. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern that this category does not allow for the formation of military units.
It is important to note that limited fitness during martial law means that a person is unfit for military service in peacetime, but this does not mean that they are exempt from being drafted into the military. Persons with limited fitness can be mobilized under martial law.
