Hungarian President called on Zelensky to negotiate with Russia

Hungarian President Katalin Novak shared that she called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to start negotiations with Russia.

According to the Hungarian publication Index, Novak made this statement during an interview.

According to the Hungarian president, their country condemns Russia's invasion of Ukraine and understands Zelenskyy's desire to protect his fellow citizens.

"This war has been going on for more than a year and a half, and I don't see any military solution that would lead to stable peace for a long period. That is why we have to sit down at the negotiating table! I have expressed this strong position to Zelensky both publicly and in private conversations," she noted.

Novak added that Hungary would be happy to participate in any process that could help bring Ukraine closer to peace. And if the talks take place, she plans to join them.

It should be noted that Hungary and Ukraine have very specific relations. Despite the fact that Hungary is a member of the EU and NATO, anti-Ukrainian narratives can often be heard in the statements of its leaders.
