Mark Milley: Counteroffensive is "slow, bloody and long"

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' counteroffensive in southern Ukraine is bringing tactical successes at a high cost in confronting Russian forces with significant preparation of defense structures.

This was reported by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the USA, General Mark Milley, in his interview with the Jordanian channel Al-Mamlaka.

Milley noted that the Ukrainians demonstrate great combat power, but the counteroffensive is "slow, bloody and long." He emphasized that Russian forces have made significant defensive preparations, including the preparation of minefields, tank barriers and other complex defensive elements.

The general noted that the process of counteroffensive takes time, and it will be extremely difficult to eliminate large numbers of Russian soldiers through military actions. He stated that a possible way out of the situation is a political solution to the conflict through negotiations.

He also noted that ending the fighting through a political solution could be an important way to end the conflict.
