The Ukrainian army was forced to adjust its counteroffensive strategy due to losses in military equipment. This has led to the fact that the current operation to defeat the positions of Russian troops is slow but systematic. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing information from soldiers of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura".
According to the article, Ukrainian troops have been trained and supplied by the United States and its allies to effectively use heavy military equipment to break through to the occupied territory. However, the Russian side also prepared for this by creating dense minefields and deep trenches.
The publication notes that when Ukrainian troops launched an offensive in early June, armored vehicles faced persistent fire from helicopters, anti-tank missiles and artillery. As a result, Ukraine changed its tactics in late June, moving to a slow and methodical advance in small groups of troops. This became a new phase of the conflict, characterized by complexity, duration, and risks. Nevertheless, thanks to this tactic, on August 22, the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade announced that its troops had entered Robotyne.
The article states that this brigade faced one of the most difficult tasks at the beginning of the counteroffensive. It had to make a breakthrough to the Sea of Azov in the direction of Orikhiv.
"But in the first 10 days, the 2nd Company never got off their Bradleys and entered the battle. The vehicles got lost due to confusion or lack of night vision devices... When they approached the enemy lines, the Russian defense became fierce," the newspaper writes.
In this regard, Ukraine was forced to return to using the method of step-by-step advance by small groups of troops to defeat one Russian position after another.
