The procedure for obtaining combatant status has become less complicated, thanks to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to support the draft Resolution on Amendments to the Procedure for Granting and Depriving of Combatant Status developed by the Ministry of Defense.

The updated approach provides for a simplified procedure for obtaining combatant status, as now only one certificate of direct participation in activities contributing to the defense of Ukraine and protection of the security of the population and the interests of the state during the Russian military aggression against Ukraine is required.

This certificate must include information about the documents confirming the person's participation, and this will be the basis for granting the status of a combatant. Oleksiy Reznikov explained that this step will greatly simplify the procedure for recognizing the contribution to the defense of Ukraine and granting combatant status, helping to avoid unnecessary bureaucracy and speed up the process.

These changes will greatly facilitate access to benefits and guarantees provided by law for defenders who have defended and are defending the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine in the face of military aggression by the Russian Federation.
