The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, expressed the opinion during the veterans' forum that the war with Russia could drag on for a long time, as our country faced a strong and cunning enemy.
Reznikov noted that victory is not limited to the liberation of the territory of Ukraine, but also requires creating conditions so that the enemy does not dare to return.
"Winning means not just liberating our land, but making sure that the enemy never even thinks about returning. And this is a very difficult task. Many people in the world still believe that it is impossible," the minister said.
He emphasized that this is a difficult task. However, Ukrainians have proven that they have a different view of what is possible and impossible, and they will definitely achieve victory.
"We have a strong insidious enemy and the war may be long because it is a real marathon. We will have more painful losses, and in order to defeat the Russians, we must realize what is most important for victory," Reznikov said.
The minister emphasized that last year's experience taught us that to deter Russia, we need to have weapons. Otherwise, the Ukrainian army would have disappeared within a few months.
Reznikov emphasized that the future of victory depends on the readiness of Ukrainians to fight.
"Our long-range advantage over the enemy depends on what people feel. This is unity and readiness to fight," the minister said.
