Ukraine is actively organizing new prisoner-of-war exchanges with Russia, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, announced at a public briefing.
He noted that 48 exchanges have already taken place so far, as a result of which 2,598 military and civilians held in Russian captivity have returned to freedom.
"The work on the next ones continues. We expect good news for the families of our defenders in the near future," Yusov said.
In addition, the GUR representative clarified that among the Russian prisoners of war there are those who have expressed a desire to go over to the side of Ukraine. Although the number of such prisoners was not specified, he emphasized that this includes both junior and senior officers.
