The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is planning to adopt a decision on the decriminalization of pornography soon, according to People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to his statement, criminal prosecution will be retained only for cases of pornography without the consent of the participants (pornography, deepfake), extreme pornography with elements of violence, zoophilia and necrophilia, as well as pornography related to or intended for children (in this case, the punishment will be increased). Criminal liability for other forms of pornography creation and distribution is planned to be abolished.
Yaroslav Zheleznyak emphasized that such changes are aimed at preventing the abuse of pornography for manipulative purposes. It is important to note that criminal penalties will remain in place for other forms of criminal acts, such as pimping, forced prostitution, and human trafficking. The deputy also noted that the draft law has already been registered and is expected to be considered in the near future.
