During the meeting of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Wednesday, August 9, Minister of Defense Sergei Shoigu suggested that Poland may have plans for the western regions of Ukraine.
Russian sources report that Shoigu stated that Poland intends to "occupy" the territory of western Ukraine. He claims that Warsaw considers the creation of a Polish-Ukrainian grouping as a means of securing western Ukraine, but that the real goal is to occupy these territories.
Shoigu also expressed fears about threats to Russia's military security in the west and northwest due to the approach of NATO's borders to Russia. He called the accession of Finland and possibly Sweden to NATO a destabilizing factor.
The minister also emphasized the militarization of Poland, which, in his opinion, has become the main instrument of anti-Russian policy under the influence of the United States.
