European companies suffered losses of more than 100 billion euros due to Russian aggression against Ukraine

The Russian invasion of Ukraine led to the loss of at least 100 billion euros by the largest European companies, the Financial Times reports.

According to a study of the annual reports of 600 companies for 2023, about 176 firms faced asset depreciation, increased costs due to exchange rate differences and other costs due to the sale, closure or reduction of activities of Russian enterprises.

The specified losses reflect only direct economic consequences and do not take into account indirect macroeconomic effects, such as the increase in prices for energy carriers and raw materials.

However, according to the Financial Times, more than half of the 1,871 European companies operating in Russia continue their activities after the start of the armed conflict.
