The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, offered the President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, to arrange for him a meeting with the leaders of the countries of Latin America so that they would hear Ukraine's message.

This was reported by Volodymyr Zelenskyi in an interview with Globo News.

He noted that he would accept the invitation of the President of Brazil to visit the country.

"Latin America is very important to me, Brazil and other countries too. Yes, I wanted (to go to Brazil - ed.). If I receive an invitation, I will go," he said.

At the same time, Zelenskyi suggested that Lula act as a regional leader and gather other heads of state to hear Ukraine's message.

"...if he succeeds in bringing together other leaders of Latin America, we can all meet in Brazil or somewhere else. It will also help the whole world a lot, so that peace will come. And Ukraine will be heard and supported by the continent," said the President of Ukraine .

He noted that Ukraine needs concrete things from the meeting.

"First, it brings Latin America closer together and gives us an opportunity to hold a meeting and talk. This is political support. Second, I know that Lula and Brazilian society support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and we need this support," he said. he.

Zelenskyi also hopes that Brazil will be able to contribute to the resolution of the "grain agreement" and send serious humanitarian aid.

At the same time, the president emphasized that he does not expect military support.

"I have no intention of asking Lula to give me a weapon. Why? I know he won't give it to me," he said.

 Relations between Ukraine and Brazil

At first, the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, took a fairly neutral position regarding the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine. He claimed that the Ukrainian authorities were supposed to give up membership in NATO and the EU.

At the beginning of 2023, da Silva wanted to become a mediator to establish peace between Ukraine and Russia. And in June, he condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Zelenskyi was supposed to meet with da Silva during the G7 summit, but the meeting did not take place due to the different schedules of the leaders. Later, the president of Ukraine said that he was interested in meeting da Silva and was even ready to fly to Latin America.
