 What preceded

On July 21, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine received a resignation letter from Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that Tkachenko submitted his resignation due to the resonance with the allocation of funds by the Ministry of Culture from the state budget.

In his evening address on July 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі instructed Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal to consider replacing Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

This decision was preceded by a scandal over the fact that the Ministry of Culture allocated millions of hryvnias for the creation of a Russian-language product from companies that worked for the Russian market.

In particular, on June 7, the State Enterprise of Foreign Broadcasting held an "art contest" for the creation of films and TV series. Then the winners were the companies whose founders worked on the Russian market and in Russian projects.

However, the loudest scandal arose after Yuri Gorbunov's company announced the allocation of 33 million hryvnias for the creation of the comedy series "SMT Ingulets".

Earlier, the public also collected signatures for a petition for Tkachenko's resignation.
