The finance ministers of the G7 countries confirmed their steadfast support for Ukraine amid a full-scale Russian invasion.
This was stated by the Minister of Finance of Japan Shunichi Suzuki, reports Kyodo.
"We have confirmed that we will not waver in our support for Ukraine," Suzuki said after presiding over a meeting of G7 countries on the eve of the G20 financial meeting in the western Indian city of Gandhinagar. Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko joined Sunday's meeting virtually.
The finance ministers of the G7 countries discussed their coordinated response to Russia as the strengthening of economic sanctions against the aggressor country. Politicians also raised the issue of global tax reforms targeting multinational corporations, which is on the agenda of the G20 meeting.
Ahead of G20 finance ministers meeting on Monday and Tuesday, G7 ministers stressed the need to meet the 2025 tax reform target and called on multinational corporations to pay their fair share.
Security guarantees for Ukraine from the G7 countries
During the NATO summit in Vilnius, which took place from July 11 to 12, the "Big Seven" countries agreed on a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine. It provides for long-term security and economic support for our country.
Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Finland also decided to support the declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine, which was agreed by the leaders of the "Big Seven".
