We formed the foundation of security for Ukraine on the way to NATO, - Zelenskyi

For the first time since independence, we formed a security foundation for Ukraine on the way to NATO.

 This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

 The Ukrainian leader noted that as a result of the summit, we received specific security guarantees, which were confirmed by the top 7 democracies of the world. He noted that we have never had such a security foundation before, and on this foundation we will build a new, legally binding architecture of bilateral security treaties with the strongest.

 Zelenskyі said that during the NATO summit in Vilnius, it was possible to remove any doubts and ambiguities regarding whether Ukraine will be a member of the Alliance.

 "For the first time, not only all members of the Alliance agree with this, but also a significant majority in the Alliance energetically approaches it. Never before have the words "you are equals among equals" for Ukraine from other NATO members sounded truly meaningful. Now everyone understands: this is a fact - equals among equals. And we will definitely confirm this fact with our victory and joining NATO," the president said.

 Security guarantees for Ukraine from the G7

 On the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius, the leaders of the G7 member states in a joint declaration reaffirmed their commitment to an independent, democratic and sovereign Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders, capable of defending itself and deterring possible future aggression.

 The G7 countries will work to ensure stable forces capable of defending Ukraine right now and deterring Russian aggression in the future. In particular, it is about:

  •  Security assistance and the supply of modern military equipment on land, in the air and at seа
  •  Support for the development of the defense and industrial base of Ukraine
  •  Training and education of the Ukrainian Armed Forces;
  •  Exchange of intelligence
  •  Supporting cyber defense, security and resilience initiatives, including to counter hybrid threats.
