The countries of the "Big Seven" agreed on a joint declaration, which refers to the long-term security and economic support they plan to provide to Ukraine.
This was reported by the head of OP Andriy Yermak.
"We have powerful defense agreements and the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine agreed by the G7 countries. It is an important step towards concluding a system of bilateral security agreements between Ukraine and individual guarantor countries regarding security guarantees for our state," he wrote.
According to the head of the OP, the declaration is a joint product that takes into account both the needs of Ukraine and the capabilities of partners.
At the same time, the declaration is a framework general document. The next step is the conclusion of a system of bilateral security agreements between Ukraine and individual guarantor countries, united by the framework of multilateral cooperation.
What are the security guarantees?
They include the following components:
Measures to help Ukraine protect itself and prevent new aggression, including the supply of weapons, support in the development of the defense-industrial complex, training, cooperation in the field of intelligence and cyber security. In addition, the guarantor countries will help increase the stability of the Ukrainian economy and energy industry and provide technical and financial assistance.
Measures in the event of a new aggression, which include immediate consultations, to provide Ukraine with everything necessary for defense in the shortest possible time.
Support in holding Russia accountable for aggression and economic and legal steps aimed at punishing the Russian Federation and increasing its war spending.
Among them: further strengthening of sanctions pressure, freezing of assets, creation of mechanisms for recovery of reparations and prosecution of those guilty of crimes against Ukraine and Ukrainians in accordance with the norms of international law.
An important point of the guarantees is further support for the democratic development of Ukraine.
"This document is open and allows other countries not from the G7 to join the security guarantees. The declaration is the first document that symbolizes the presence of an "umbrella" in the form of security guarantees," Yermak noted.
The leader added: it is important that Ukraine wins the war and signs security guarantees for our state before the NATO summit in Washington in 2024. They will operate until the country joins NATO.
