Japan and Ukraine agree to hold a meeting between Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and President Volodymyr Zelenskyi. It should take place on Wednesday on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Kyodo News.
During the talks with Zelenskyi, Kisida is expected to express his readiness to increase support for Ukraine in restoring its infrastructure and economy.
"This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since President Zelenskyі unexpectedly appeared at the G7 summit in Hiroshima in May. Kishida had a telephone conversation with Zelenskyі in June," the article says.
What is planned to be discussed at the upcoming meeting
Japan has agreed with Ukraine on the creation of a communication system that will support its efforts to restore territories seriously affected by Russian aggression.
"Japan intends to provide Kyiv with advice and knowledge to rebuild the devastated regions based on the experience gained during the 2011 strong earthquake and subsequent tsunami that affected the northeastern part of Japan," writes Kyodo.
