Stoltenberg hopes that NATO leaders will confirm that Ukraine will become a member of the Alliance

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg hopes that the leaders of the Alliance member countries will confirm that Ukraine will join NATO.

He announced this at a press conference.

The NATO Secretary General noted that at the summit, the member states will make Ukraine even stronger and show their vision of its future.

He hopes that the leaders of the Alliance will agree on a package with three elements that will bring Ukraine closer to NATO.

First, they will agree on an annual aid program to ensure full cooperation between the Ukrainian armed forces and NATO. Allies promise to provide Ukraine with 500 million euros for basic needs, such as fuel and medicine. They will also help ensure Ukraine's defense needs, including military hospitals.

Second, they will improve political relations by establishing the Ukraine-NATO Council.

Stoltenberg voiced the third point as follows: "I hope that the leaders of the Alliance will confirm that Ukraine will become a member of NATO and will be united in how to bring Ukraine closer to its goal."

The Secretary General of NATO also announced that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi will come to the NATO summit in Vilnius.

According to him, Zelenskyі will take part in the "inaugural meeting".

 NATO summit in Vilnius

The Alliance summit will be held on July 11-12 in Lithuania. On it, Ukraine wants to receive a signal of support for joining NATO after the end of the war. At the same time, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, believes that the country has every reason to do so.

The leader of Ukraine noted that the Alliance's decision to support Ukraine's membership will give greater motivation to our soldiers.

In addition, Ukraine wants to receive security guarantees from NATO member states for the period until the country joins the Alliance.
