Decisions that NATO member states will make at the summit in Vilnius should not disappoint Ukrainians.

This was reported by the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda in an interview with LRT.

"I feel that we will still find those formulations that will not disappoint Ukrainians and will say more than we are used to saying," he said.

According to Nauseda, some NATO countries will come to Vilnius with obligations to provide security guarantees to Ukraine, and there is already an agreement on the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council to strengthen Kyiv's integration into the Alliance.

"President Zelenskyi, I hope that when he comes to Vilnius, he will get, maybe not all of what he is counting on in his maximum plans, but he will definitely get a lot," he added.

At the same time, Nauseda said that he would not categorically state that Ukraine will not receive an invitation to NATO after the end of the war in one form or another. He added that this is exactly what is currently being discussed in the Alliance.

The President of Lithuania noted that the success of the summit will mean if the participants say more than at the summit in Bucharest in 2008.

"There are certainly not one, not two, and not even four states that, well, would like a more extensive text, and right now the dialogue between such states and more cautious states is ongoing and, I hope, it will end in a mutually acceptable way," he added.

 NATO summit in Vilnius

The Alliance summit will be held on July 11-12 in Lithuania. At it, Ukraine wants to receive a decision on support for accession after the end of the war with Russia. At the same time, Zelensky believes that the state has every reason to do so.

In addition, Ukraine also wants to receive security guarantees from NATO members, which cannot be an alternative to membership. The Alliance is already considering several options for security guarantees.
