The FSB of the Russian Federation announced the alleged "termination of an assassination attempt" on the "head" of the annexed Crimea Serhiy Aksyonov. Allegedly, it was carried out by a Russian recruited by the SBU.
This is reported by the Russian publication "Meduza".
According to the FSB, the attempt was allegedly prepared by a citizen of Russia, born in 1988, "who was recruited by SBU employees." He allegedly passed "a training course in reconnaissance and subversive activity, including mine and explosives training" on the territory of Ukraine.
In June 2023, according to an FSB report, an "agent of a foreign special service" arrived in Crimea and began preparations for a terrorist attack - he planned to blow up Aksyonov's car.
"However, the bomber did not have time to complete his criminal intent, as he was detained while removing the explosive device from the hiding place," the FSB said.
So far, the alleged Russian has been detained.
As a reminder, in June 2021, Ukraine completed the investigation into the occupation of Crimea and treason committed by eight former high-ranking officials of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. The so-called "head" of Crimea Serhii Aksyonov appears in the case.
In November of the same year, the Kyiv Court of Appeal allowed the detention of the leader of the Crimean occupiers, Serhii Aksyonov. He is accused of separatism, terrorism and a number of other criminal articles.
