Representatives of Ukraine have never asked the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance to send troops to help defend against a Russian invasion.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, stated this in an interview with La7.
"We have never, never asked for foreign soldiers to appear on our soil. And I think this fact should be appreciated. Unlike many countries in the world that asked NATO to deploy troops on their territory to solve the problems of these countries , - we, Ukrainians, have never asked for foreign soldiers," said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
He clarified that Ukraine's appeals have always been to hand over weapons to our military, and they will do the rest themselves.
NATO troops in Ukraine
It should be noted that the former Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance, Anders Rasmussen, suggested that some NATO countries may want to send their troops to Ukraine if our country is not provided with effective security guarantees.
Kuleba, responding to such a statement, emphasized that until the end of a full-scale war, foreign countries will not introduce their troops into the territory of Ukraine. Our country does not ask for this.
It will be recalled that earlier the head of NATO's military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, stated that the Alliance is ready for a direct confrontation with Russia, as the Kremlin's goals go beyond Ukraine.
