President Volodymyr Zelenskyi held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. The main issues, as announced, were: availability of bomb shelters, corruption in the judicial system, European integration and personnel decisions.
Main topics
As announced by the NSDC, the meeting will consider the most pressing problems that have arisen recently, namely:
the issue of overcoming manifestations of corruption in the justice system,
the results of checking the operational readiness of stationary shelters during repelling air attacks.
European integration is also among the topics of discussion.
Who reported
According to the press service of the NSDC, the speakers at the meeting were:
head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasyl Malyuk,
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko,
Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine.
These names are not accidental, because Kamyshyn was appointed responsible for the inspection of shelters in Kyiv, and Klymenko was assigned to conduct an audit throughout Ukraine.
Personnel decisions
As the NSDC secretary reported yesterday, the key topic will be shelters in Ukraine, but personnel decisions may be made.
"Appropriate decisions will be made based on the results of the reports. I do not rule out that personnel decisions may also be made, taking into account the sensitivity of the issues currently under consideration," Danilov said, but did not specify at what level the possible reshuffles, adding that " it is about the responsibility of the relevant persons".
It is worth noting that for the second week now there have been reports on the Internet that the Office of the President is allegedly planning to remove Vitaliy Klitschko from power in the capital by removing him from the position of head of the KMDA.
In addition, information appeared in the mass media that the head of Mykolaiv RMA Vitaly Kim can head the Kyiv city military administration. However, Kim himself said in a comment to some publications that he had not heard anything about his appointment.
Why is the NSDC meeting important?
It is worth noting that today's meeting of the National Security Council discussed issues important to our country. Since Ukraine was only recently shaken by the news that in Kyiv during one of the Russian missile attacks, people could not get to the shelter. As a result, three people died.
As you know, after the tragedy, President Volodymyr Zelenskyі ordered a full audit of all protective structures in Kyiv and checked shelters throughout the country. But the results of the inspection, to put it mildly, turned out to be disappointing.
Another problem became acute - bribery in courts. The high-profile case of ex-judge Knyazev especially attracted public attention.
Thus, in May, the former head of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, was exposed for taking a bribe of almost 3 million dollars. He became the highest-ranking top official in the history of Ukraine who was caught for corruption.
