The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, announced on Thursday that he held telephone talks with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on the possible content of the Alliance's decision regarding the prospect of Ukraine's membership in NATO.
"Telephone conversation with Jens Stoltenberg. We are working closely with the Secretary General and NATO capitals to make Vilnius a success. We are fully focused on the possible content of NATO's decision regarding Ukraine's membership prospects. Ukraine is an asset for NATO; we will make it stronger," Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on June 1 that Ukraine expects an invitation to join NATO in the summer.
The Office of the President indicated that 20 member states of the Alliance support Ukraine's accession to NATO.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba also reported on June 16 about a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, during which he emphasized the importance of taking a step towards Ukraine's membership in NATO in Vilnius, in particular by eliminating the MAP.
