"Alternative for Germany" plans to start a campaign for leaving the EU

The right-wing populist party "Alternative for Germany" announced that during the elections to the European Parliament next year, it will seek the "dissolution" of the European Union or Germany's exit from it.

This is stated in the party message.

As noted in the political force, "the patience of the party leaders on the issue of the EU has run out", so they are in favor of dissolving the union and want to found instead "a new European economic community and community of interests, a federation of European nations".

The party conference is due to vote on this position at the end of July.

"Alternative for Germany" advocates Germany's exit from the EU, at least from 2019, and also calls for the liquidation of the European Parliament.

Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the right-wing populist political force has consistently opposed the military support of Kyiv. AfD politicians sharply criticize the supply of German weapons to Ukraine, accusing the German government of "inciting war", and the recent decision to supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks was called "disastrous".

It will be recalled that in recent weeks, well-known members of the main German parties expressed alarm in connection with a new survey, which shows support for the far-right "Alternative for Germany" at a record high level.
