The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has no intention of simplifying the procedure for Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Alliance.
This was reported by a Fox News journalist on Twitter.
Biden was asked if he would facilitate Ukraine's accession to NATO, "No," he replied.
Ukraine's entry into NATO
Rumors that Ukraine may join the alliance without a NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) appeared the day before.
Thus, Axios, citing sources, reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has put forward a proposal to Joe Biden, according to which the alliance will declare that Ukraine has made progress on the way to membership. Kyiv will allegedly not have to complete the step-by-step process of the MAP, which other Eastern European members previously went through. At the same time, the publication stated that Biden allegedly agreed to such a proposal.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that the Alliance is inclined to simplify Ukraine's accession to NATO.
According to CNN, Biden and his team are in the midst of negotiations, trying to convince allies to support Ukraine's accession to NATO.
