A delegation of African leaders arrived in Russia for talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on resolving the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The meeting of leaders will take place in St. Petersburg.

 This afternoon, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, along with the heads of state of Zambia, Comoros and Senegal, and the heads of government of Congo-Brazzaville, Egypt and Uganda, will meet with Putin "to find a way to peace in the 16-month conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which has led to devastating economic consequences, loss of life and global instability".

 It is noted that Ramaphosa will return to South Africa on June 18.

 Visit of African leaders to Ukraine

 The day before, the President of the Union of the Comoros Islands, the President of the Republic of South Africa, the President of Zambia, the President of Senegal, the Prime Minister of Egypt and other government officials of African countries visited Kyiv. They held a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

 African leaders also visited Bucha during their visit to Ukraine. In addition, they presented a ten-point African peace initiative.
