US President Joe Biden will host outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House on June 12.
White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre announced this in her statement.
Jean-Pierre said that Stoltenberg will visit the White House to discuss the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius.
"President Biden and Secretary General Stoltenberg will review preparations for the summit, including work to further strengthen the Alliance's deterrence and defense capabilities, deliver on defense investment commitments made at the 2014 Wales Summit, and deepen partnerships among NATO members .
They will also discuss the support of Ukraine by the members of the Alliance against the background of Russia's brutal war of aggression," the press secretary of the White House said.
Stoltenberg, who has led NATO since 2014, said earlier this year that he would step down when his current term ends at the end of September.
The struggle for the candidacy of his successor intensified on the eve of the summit of NATO leaders in Vilnius on July 11-12.
Last week, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak proposed the candidacy of British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace directly to Biden.
