On Thursday, the European Commission repeated calls for China to play a constructive role in establishing peace in Ukraine.
This was announced by the EU foreign policy service after a meeting of high-ranking EU diplomat Enrique Mora with China's special representative for Eurasian affairs and former ambassador to Russia Li Hui.
"The EU expects that China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, will play a constructive role... and will remind of the need to respect the principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity... through the unconditional withdrawal of all forces and military equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine within its borders internationally recognized borders," the EU statement said.
At the meeting, Mora noted Russia's full responsibility for the unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine. He emphasized that Ukraine is exercising its right to self-defense, and the European Union is determined to support Ukraine in the long term.
