Ukraine should receive at its disposal all types of weapons that NATO itself would use. Germany could transfer Taurus-type cruise missiles.
This was stated by Bundestag deputy Roderich Kiesewetter in an interview with Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland (RND).
According to him, the transfer of such weapons will allow to expand the strategy of supporting Ukraine.
"Ukraine's partners must now go all-in and provide Ukraine with everything that Ukraine can use in joint military battles and that is permissible under international law," Kieseweter said.
In his opinion, the German Taurus cruise missiles with a range of up to 400-500 kilometers would be a very useful contribution.
"There should be no more red lines here," the politician said about the transfer of arms to Ukraine.
The aviation subsonic cruise missile TAURUS KEPD is an analogue of the British Storm Shadow. At the same time, their radius of action is much larger - up to 500 kilometers. Its weight is 1400 kg, and its length is 5 meters. The missile was developed at Taurus Systems GmbH. Germany ordered 600 combat and 14 Taurus training missiles for its air force.
It is also known that the warhead detonation system in this missile can be programmed for aerial or underground detonation. In the case of air detonation, both charges are detonated simultaneously.
It is known that the base model of the TAURUS missile has a tandem concrete-piercing warhead of the MEPHISTO type. The advanced charge of the combat unit is cumulative, the main charge is high-explosive. It is housed in a high-strength housing, the shape of which is optimized for breaking through concrete and heavy soil rocks. The weight of the high-explosive charge together with the case is 400 kilograms, the total weight of the warhead is 480 kilograms.
It is worth noting that such a statement was made against the background of the fact that Ukraine received Storm Shadow missiles from Britain. Thus, on May 11, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace confirmed that his country had transferred long-range Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine, which can hit targets at a distance of more than 250 kilometers.
