During the summit, the leaders of the G7 countries adopted a plan to counteract the risks that arose due to the Russian "weaponization of energy".
CNN quotes the joint statement of the G7 leaders.
"We will work together to ensure that attempts to use economic dependency as a weapon to force G7 members and our partners, including small economies, to submit and obey fail and face consequences," the statement said.
It is noted that the G7 leaders strongly oppose Russia's use of energy and economic dependence.
As the publication writes, the Kremlin has long been accused of "weaponizing" the energy sector, as well as manipulating prices and supplies to gain political leverage.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine, Europe gradually began to abandon the energy carriers of the aggressor country.
For example, only recently the Prime Minister of Moldova, Dorin Rechan, announced that his country finally got rid of its dependence on Russian gas. The Netherlands, Germany and a number of others were also among the countries that refused Russian energy carriers.
